ABOUT THE AWARDS
The Workies is a unique award program that recognizes, rewards and celebrates the achievements of Talent, Culture, Brand and Technology leaders disrupting and innovating within the HR industry worldwide.
Our industry is transforming and with it, the tools we use in our practice. In the workforce of today (and tomorrow), innovation and disruption is key to remaining relevant. Existing awards do not recognize the holistic elements it takes to recruit, retain and streamline Human Resources.
In order to encourage lasting change, we will honor leaders doing work that reflects the mission of The Workies. Those that are supporting talent, building a sustainable culture & brand and creating new technologies that are all disrupting HR for the good.

Recognizing companies that have developed an innovative L&D strategy that aligns with the overall business strategy, and who can show evidence of improved enagement and performance.

Recognizing companies that have adopted a proactive approach to talent management and succession planning. This can include how a company spots talent and how they deliver and monitor results.

Recognizing the internal mobility opportunities of a company. This includes lateral or vertical movement (promotion/transfer) of employees.

Recognizing companies offering orginial and successful coaching for employees, to better perform a job or task. Alternatively, a standout mentorship relationship can also be entered.

Awarding effective HR compliance programs integrated successfully into business strategies, to keep people in the organization informed and safe.

Recognizing companies that have used employee benefits in a strategic way aligned to their organizational objectives. These can range from PTO, family leave and student loan reimbursement to massages, gym memberships, and everything in between.

Recognizing outstanding examples of companies introducing employees to the expectations, skills, knowledge and culture of the company. This includes engaging recent hires and current employees moving roles.

Reognizing teams and companies implementing original and forward-thinking performance reviews. This includes approaching a standard annual review critically and considering alternatives for your team and company.

Recognizing individuals or a team that has added value to their organization through an innovative, clear or determined solution. The winning intervention should show HR at it's most creative and flexible.

Awarding internal departments responsible for recruiting talent, without the need for external agencies. Those that have successfully completed volume recruitment drives, or filled hard to place roles, or at the top executive level.

The Emerging HR Leader of the Year award recognizes leaders who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and who exemplify the increasingly strategic role in HR in business today

Recognizing teams for their work within the function and partnering with those outside of HR, through specific projects or general attraction and retention of talent.

The Best Director of the Year award recognizes Directors who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and who exemplify the increasingly strategic role in HR in business today

Recognizing companies that have rolled out a diversity & inclusion initiative that has delivered positive results by encouraging applications from under-represented groups, flexible working schemes, or strategy to improve inequality. Entries should reflect a true shift in the diversity of the workforce.

Recognizing organizations that are seeing amazing input from staff through effective employee engagement. This will include multiple touchpoints to reach employees and make them feel valued.

Recognizing companies that have a clear corporate social responsibility program throughout the organization. Awarding those that have demonstrated the role of HR in the strategy and execution of initiatives.

Recognizing companies that have a clear employer brand, promoting the culture and key values. It must be demonstrated through materials (web/printed/digital) externally and internally, and a realistic portrayal of the company values.

Recognizing an exceptional employer website, effectively using employer brand to attract talent and convey values, principles and mission, in a digital space. Particular attention paid to the design and user experience.

Rewarding strategic, innovative and informed use of workplace design to provide the best working culture for employees, whether in-office or remote.

Awarding the best use of internal communications, either for a project or ongoing initiative. Recognizing stand-out communications, using digital, print or experential plaforms.

Recognizing the best use of video including film, video, cinema, and television.

Recognizing the best graduate recruitment campaign, aimed at recruiting the best talent for the company. This can include digital, print or experiential, and other forms of marketing. Please include information on the company website if relevant.

Rewarding companies that have excelled in production of a recruitment event either on-campus or off.

Recognizing an innovative company strategy for health and wellbeing in the workplace, showing links to engagement and productivity.

Recognizing the best sourcing technology including career advice & coaching, job boards, crowd sourced recruitment, referral tools, temporary labor market and recruitment marketplace.

Recognizing the best engagement technology including bots, employer reviews, candidate relationship management, social networks, brand creation and management.

Recognizing the best selection technology including matching systems, video interviewing, skill assessment, resume parsing and behavioural assessment.

Recognizing the best hiring technology including freelance management systems, ATS staffing companies, ATS corporations, vendor management systems and analytics.

Recognizing technology that uses the application of artificial intelligence to the recruitment function. It is designed to streamline or automate some part of the recruitment process, especially high volume tasks.

The Workies honor those that find innovative ways to source, recruit and nurture talent. Recognizing the work of HR teams within companies and organizations from the public, private and non-profit sectors. 500-word case study plus evidence. Specific category requirements below
Best Learning & Development Initiative
Case study of the L&D strategy and how it feeds into broader business objectives. Show success of L&D work by clear metrics on business impact and how it has strengthened the company.
Best Talent Management Initiative
Case study of the Talent Management initiative and how it feeds into broader business objectives. Show success of work by clear metrics on business impact and how it has strengthened the company.
Best Mobility Initiative
Case study illustrating the internal mobility opportunities to improve employee & organizational effectiveness, and adjust to changing business operations. Please provide metrics and anecdotal evidence.
Best Mentorship or Coaching Program

Case study showing true integration of HR compliance, to ensure laws are complied. Evidence should show understanding of complicance initiative from the top down, and impactful ways of ensuring all staff are aware and following valued behavior.
Best Use of Employee Benefits
Entries should demonstrate innovation, ROI, flexibility and evidence that rewards are making a positive difference. We encourage you to share any creative benefits.
Best Onboarding Process
A clear case study showing excellence in onboarding. Must show use of relevant and impactful tools to engage staff, including authentic messaging. Metrics will include retention of onboarded employees, both in metrics and anecdotal evidence. This can include increased productivity and increases in revenue.
Best Review Process
A case study illustrating the review process in place, including details on how this has evolved over time. Must include evidence of success, including metrics on productivity of employees and the rate of promotion or other development.
HR Impact on Business Strategy
This is a chance to show the broad impact of HR on business strategy. A case study illustrating ongoing work by HR that has improved the business. This can be both revenue improvements and/or culture and/or brand.
Best In House Recruitment Team
A clear case study showing excellence of in-house recruitment. Must show use of successful recruitment drives, including description and results.
Best Emerging HR Leader of the Year
Description of candidate - background, role, department. Examples of impact the individual has had on the company, including metrics and feedback. And the future impact they are likely to make, considering work done thus far.
Best HR Team of the Year (Small / Med / Large)
A clear case study, outlining the impact your team has on people within and outside of your department. How has your team helped business development? Use metrics, feedback and referrals.
Judges will consider the scale of your team and service provision and the business environment you operate in.
Best HR Director of the Year (Small / Med / Large)
Description of Director - background, role, impact. Examples of the outstanding impact the individual has had on the company, including metrics and feedback.
CULTURE & BRAND
The Workies honor those that build a culture that retains, rewards and grows talent, and a brand that reflects authenticity. Recognizing the work of HR teams and marketing agencies, rewarding those that have created an authentic brand and culture. And have delivered successful and results-driven campaigns. 500-word case study plus supporting evidence. Specific category requirements below
Best Diversity & Inclusion Initiative
A casy study explaining the D&I initiative, how it was implemented and the affect it's had on business objectives. Particular attention will be paid to a true shift in D&I statistics, however the company reports these. Supporting evidence should include visual references, including messaging and branding.
Best Employee Engagement
Entries should include a clear description of the employee engagement strategy, why it was implemented and measurable results, ultimately showing increased employee satisfaction.
Best Purpose or CSR Initiative
Entries should include a case study outlining the company CSR initiatives, the messaging and branding used and HR's involvement. Please include evidence showing how employees are engaged to help create a positive change on important social and environmental issues.
Best Employer Brand
Entries must provide a clear and concise description of the employer brand, how it came to be (e.g. research and creative input), and proof of success. This can include measurable benefits to the business, impact of branding on key stakeholders and understanding of messaging internally & externally.
Best Workplace Design
A case study outlining the design of a workplace, why it was implemented and how it has improved working conditions for either all, or a subsection, of staff. Evidence can include floorplans, specific furniture or tools, accessibility implementations etc.
Best Internal Communications Initiative
Description of the internal communications strategy, including why, how, where and what makes it successful internally. Please include branding examples, messaging and metrics that support the success of the campaign.
Best Use of Social Media

Best Graduate Recruitment Campaign
Description of campaign and how brand and message is aimed at the target market. Include examples of the marketing and branding, and how it follows an informed strategy. Please also include evidence of success, using metrics and feedback, and how the campaign is improving business objectives.
Best Recruitment Event
Judges will look for a unique and innovative recruitment event, showcasing why this approach was used to recruit for the particular target market. Please include evidence of success, including an increase in hiring numbers and how business objectives were achieved.
Best Health & Wellbeing Initiative
A case study explaining why health and wellbeing is important, whether it's company-wide or for a particular group, and the implementation. Please include any branding or unique implementation methods, plus evidence of success in metrics and feedback from employees.

The Workies honor those that find innovative ways to use technology to attract, recruit & retain talent. Recognizing the best HR technology solution providers and front runners in the digital space. 500-word case study plus supporting evidence. Specific category requirements below.
